Through the 'Start/Stop Hotspot reminders' option you can start or stop searching for HotSpots. The 'Report routes' option allows you to email, print or Dropbox al the registered routes.

The 'Total km' option gives the total kilometers of all routes registered with RouteReg. The 'Total private km' option shows the registered private kilometers of the current year and the maximum number of private kilometers. The default maximum number of private kilometers is 500 km and can be adjusted via the 'Settings' tab. If the maximum number of private km has been exceeded this value will be displayed in a red color.

Manage cars

The first route can be entered after registering the first car. Via menu 'Cars' you can manage the cars in RouteReg. With the 'Add' button you can create a new car.

Enter at least the 'Brand', 'type' and 'License plate' of the car. With the option 'Default car' activated, this car is always used when a new route is registered.

Optionally you can specify the date period in which you drive this car.

Select the button 'Save' to create the car.

In the list of cars you can select the car you want to change. If a car is changed that has been used in a route, these changes are made in all historic routes. If this is the case, you will always be notified.

You can remove a car by swiping over the car in question in the list. A car can only be removed if it is not used in a route.

Manage locations

The first route can be entered after registering the first locations. Through the  menu 'Locations' you can manage the locations in RouteReg. With the 'Add' button you can create a new location.

Enter at least a 'Description' and 'Address' of the location. You can activate the option 'Location is Favourite' to  easily find this location in a long list of locations.

To determine an address automatically, select the map. The map will automatically go to your current location based on GPS and will determine the current address. If the location can not be accurately determined, you can move the 'Pin' to the right location. You can also select the correct location by selecting to position on the map shortly, the 'Pin' will then move to this location. Select 'Done' when you want to use that address for the location. For the determination of a GPS location an Internet connection is required. Once the GPS location is selected the option 'Location is Hotspot' will be automatically enabled. Hotspots are locations for which you receive a notification when you have arrived at a location. The search for Hotspots can be started via the 'Menu' tab (see Hotspot reminders).

Select the button 'Save' to create the location.

In the list of locations you can select the location you want to change. If a location is changed that has been used in a route, these changes are made in all historic routes. If this is the case, you will always be notified.

You can remove a location by swiping over the location in question in the list. A location can only be removed if it is not used in a route.

Hotspot reminders

Locations can be marked as Hotspot. If scanning for Hotspots has started you will be notified when you have arrived at a Hotspot. The working of Hotspots is dependent on the GPS coverage. Scanning for hotspots could drain the battery faster. To minimize the use of the GPS, RouteReg only uses the GPS if the location changes significantly. For this RouteReg makes use of the change of GSM antennas that your iPhone always registers. Scanning for Hotspots can be started and stopped from the menu of RouteReg. From the iPhone 4 and later it is possible to scan for hotspots, on older iPhones it is not possible to use Hotspot reminders.

Manage routes

Through the 'Routes' tab you can manage the routes in RouteReg. Use the 'Add' button to create a new route.

Select the car in which the route was created. Unless a default car is set, the selected car wil also be used in the next registered route.

Select the correct date on which the route has taken place, use the 'Today' button to set the date to today's date. If you use a date other than today, then this date will be used for the future routes. This is useful for entering multiple routes afterwards. Once you start RouteReg again, it will automatically uses today's date.

Select the appropriate route type. The choice can be made from the following options: Business, Commuting, Private.

Then select the start location and the end location of the route. The mileage will be automatically calculated based on previous identical route. This functionality can be deactivated by disabling 'Automatically calculate' in the 'Settings' of RouteReg.

In the field 'Remark' you can register a remark for the route.

In the field 'Private detour km', you can register private detour kilometers route are made, during a business or commuting ride.

The 'Mark route' option allows you to mark the route, e.g. if you want to adjust this route on a later moment.

Select the button 'Save' to create the route.

In the list of routes you can select the route you want to change. You can remove a route by swiping over the route in question in the list.

Settings

Via the menu 'Settings', you can adjust the settings of RouteReg.

The 'Auto calculate values' option is enabled by default. This option ensures that the end kilometers of a route will be based on the last identical route or the calculated ideal route. When the end kilometers are automatically calculated this value will get a red color, always check the calculated end kilometers with the actual mileage of the car in question.

The 'Use Cloud Sync' option ensures that all RouteReg data is stored in the Cloud. By using Cloud Sync you always back up your data in the Cloud. To use Cloud Sync you must create an account, with this account you can also use the RouteReg data on other devices running RouteReg. Via the next link you can manage your Cloud Sync user account, to change your password or to reset your password if you lost it: Cloud Sync - User Manager

RouteReg uses the Cloud Sync platform Simperium. RouteReg uses Simperium because it is fast, reliable and more flexible relative to other Cloud Sync options. Cloud Sync is free and you can use it on as many systems of RouteReg as you like.

If you don't want to use Cloud Sync, that's no problem, you can also use RouteReg with local storage only. Note that without Cloud Sync you have no backup in the Cloud and the data can not be used across multiple devices running RouteReg.

RouteReg Car Detection

RouteReg can use a Bluetooth Smart tag to identify your vehicle. By placing a Bluetooth Smart tag in your vehicle, RouteReg can detect when you are in your vehicle and when you leave your vehicle. When you leave your vehicle RouteReg will notify you, so the mileage can be easily registered!

Bluetooth Smart

Apple is the first vendor that added Bluetooth Smart technology to their products. As of the iPhone 4S, the support for Bluetooth Smart is available on your smartphone. If you've got an older model, the use of RouteReg Car Detection is not possible. Bluetooth Smart is a "Low Energie" version of the normal bluetooth protocol, this version uses minimal energy and can operate on one battery for a long period. Also due to this the extra battery usage on the iPhone is minimal!

Supported Bluetooth Smart tags

For the best experience and support we advise our own RouteReg Smart tag:

RouteReg Smart Tag:

This super small Bluetooth Smart tag is connected to a USB port in your vehicle. As soon as the vehicle is started the tag will be detected instantly. When you stop the vehicle, you will be notified for registration.
